Tuscan Dad

Welcome to our blog, from our Tuscan Villa!!

Isabella and I, A bit about us…

Hi everyone, and welcome to our blog! Wow, where do I start!?…Well first of all we’re really excited to tell you all about our life, and hope you enjoy reading about us! Hopefully we’ll make you smile, laugh and with a bit of luck you’ll pick up some useful parenting tips along the way…in all honesty you’ll likely be learning more about what not to do!!

So a little introduction…

I’m Richard, I’m 32 years old, originally from the UK, and am currently a full time, stay at home dad / pappa to my beautiful baby girl Isabella. My amazing wife, and Isabella’s mamma, Hanna (Incidentally Hanna is originally from Sweden and was born just outside Göteborg) recently got offered a fantastic work opportunity over here in Tuscany, Italy. We decided to go for it, meaning Hanna would take four months maternity leave after Isabella was born, I would then stay at home with Isabella while Hanna worked full time. I quit my job as a manager in a call centre in Manchester and we moved in August 2019. We now rent part of a villa in the Tuscan countryside.

Isabella is now 10 months old. As I’m sure any parent would say about their child, she is perfect…hard work, but perfect. She loves to play, giggle, go for walks, and watch her favourite cartoons. She’s very sociable and enjoys being the centre of attention (as we found out last week at her first baby group, more about that later). She is able to crawl, and has recently started pulling herself up onto her feet, although she doesn’t walk yet. She has two cute little teeth (front bottom) and golden blonde hair. It’s amazing how she much she has changed, and grown in 10 short months. I actually feel quite emotional thinking about all that she’s achieved so far in her short life. I absolutely love her to bits.

Well, thanks so much for taking the time to read our first post, and we really hope you’ll enjoy hearing about our lives. We’ll be posting regularly so if you want to hear more please subscribe at the bottom of the page to get email alerts.

Lots of love, Richard and Isabella xx

Being a Parent – 10 Things to Expect

Being Stained. I mean, of course you should still make the effort with your appearance. Just know that within 5 minutes of getting dressed, you’ll have either mushed up biscuit, sick, or yoghurt down your front. Embrace wearing patterns. Prepare to be Surprised. And not always in a good way. Instead of waking up to…

Perfect Parent?

Is there such a thing as a perfect parent? You look at some of these blogs and think, ‘how have you got time to organise your kids socks into colour codes when I’m still in my pyjamas mid-afternoon!?’. It’s madness! And can be a bit of a kick in the teeth. Granted, I’m asking this…
