Our Tuscan Villa

As you can tell by the title of this blog, we live in Tuscany, and are lucky enough to live in an amazing apartment in a villa. I just wanted to tell you a little bit about where we live, and why we fell in love with this beautiful place.

We live near a little town called Calenzano, 20 kilometres North West of Florence. Calenzano is famous for its amazing olive oil, and we are able to get our hands on the best! The owner of our villa, and neighbour, farms the land around where we live. He plants, sows, and grows all sorts, but his speciality is his oil, made from the thousands of trees that surround the property. Fresh pasta drenched in olive oil with gratings of Pecorino cheese has become our staple diet, Isabella absolutely loves it!

We are also located just on the edge of Travalle park, which is known for its stunning natural beauty, and walking and cycling paths. It’s breath taking. The view from the property is something else, and smelling the wild rosemary as I walk down the path with Isabella on our morning walk never fails to put a smile on my face.

The Villa itself was built in 1260, so as you can imagine, it’s not in perfect condition. The roof leaks from various parts, the wifi is terrible, and the old tile floor is cracked and crumbling, but it all adds to the charm of the place in my opinion. Granted, it wouldn’t be for everyone, but we wouldn’t change it for the world.

Let’s make something together.
